How can you restrict payments for team members?

In this article, you will learn how to set up payment restrictions for team members and control which merchants can be used for payments.

The Merchant permissions for roles feature allows business owners to create rules that either allow or block payments to specific merchants for selected team roles.

This helps better control card usage and prevent unwanted payments.


The merchant permissions settings can be found in the Manage users section.

In this section, there is a Merchant permissions for roles button where the owner can configure payment rules for team members.

How does it work?

Owners can create payment rules for specific team roles.

For example, you can:

  • Allow payments only to specific merchants

  • Block payments to specific merchants

  • Create different payment rules for different roles

Restrictions will apply only to the BINs available for the selected users.


Types of payment rules

Allowed merchants

When this option is selected, all payments will be blocked except for the merchants added to the allowed merchants list.

Example:

You add:

  • Google Ads

  • Meta Ads

As a result, team members with this role will only be able to make payments to these merchants. Payments to other merchants will be declined.


Blocked merchants

When this option is selected, all payments will be allowed except for merchants added to the Blocked merchants list.

Example:

You add:

  • Gaming services

  • Restricted merchants

As a result, payments to these merchants will be blocked, while all other payments will continue to work.


Managing rules

The owner can:

  • Select one or multiple team roles.

  • Add allowed or blocked merchants.

  • Create multiple rules for different roles using the Add rule button.

This allows you to configure different payment policies depending on the responsibilities of each team member.

Please note that if a team member attempts to make a payment to a merchant included in the blocked list - the payment will be automatically declined.

As a result, the transaction will receive a failed status and a decline will occur - the payment will not be completed and no funds will be charged.


How to enable this feature?

The Merchant permissions for roles feature is not enabled by default and is available only upon request.
