Why were funds withdrawn from the card?

In this article, we’ll explain why some funds from your cards may be automatically transferred back to your main account balance.

Updated this week

How It Works

Your Combo Cards account has a main balance, which is used to cover all fees, such as:

  • Decline fees (for failed transactions)

  • Hold fees (reserved funds in case of a decline)

  • Monthly card maintenance fees

  • Fees for successful transactions and other service charges

If there aren’t enough funds on your main balance to cover these fees, the system will automatically transfer part of the funds from your cards back to your main account balance.

This is done to ensure that:

  • Your account doesn’t go into a negative balance,

  • Your cards remain active and aren’t suspended,

  • You can continue using and issuing cards without interruptions.

Example

Let’s say your main balance has only $2 left, but the system needs to charge a $5 maintenance fee.
To avoid a negative balance, Combo Cards will automatically withdraw the missing $3 from one of your cards to your main account balance.

When this happens, the transaction will appear with the status Auto Withdraw, meaning it’s an automatic transfer from your card to your account balance.

The funds will then appear on your main balance 👇

What You Should Know

  • Auto withdrawals occur only when there aren’t enough funds on your main balance to cover fees.

  • The amount withdrawn equals the missing portion required to pay the fee.

  • This is a safe process — your cards remain active, and you can continue using them for payments.

Tip

To avoid unexpected automatic withdrawals from your cards, keep a small reserve on your main balance (we recommend $20–30).
This ensures all fees are charged smoothly without additional transfers.
